iGO Amigo Ultra Skin Version 1.0.14

Introduction:

  • The Amigo Ultra Skin adds essential extra functions to iGO Amigo to improve route planning and navigation whilst still retaining the original simple and easy to use interface.
  • Check the screenshots page for more detailed information.
  • Supported resolutions are 480x272, 320x240, 240x320, 640x480 and 480x640 only.
  • Version 1.0.14 is available on the downloads page.

Installation Instructions:

  • Backup the existing "data.gro" file in the "amigo" folder.
  • Backup and then delete all files in the "amigo\save" folder. This is essential to avoid conflicts with any previous installations.
  • Extract the Amigo Ultra Skin "data.gro" file from the download and copy it to the "amigo" folder overwriting the existing file.

Latest Version 1.0.14 Modifications:

  • Fully compatible with the following versions:
    • iGO Amigo Version 8.4.2.81333 dated March 12th 2009
    • iGO Amigo Version 8.4.2.85182 dated April 8th 2009
  • Added a "Sound Options" menu accessible via a new "Options" button on the "Customise Map Screen" (also known as the Quick Menu) and the "Sound and Warnings" menu with options as follows:
  • Show Mute Button: This provides the option to show the "Mute Button" on the map with settings of "Off", "Only When Muted" (to act as a reminder that the sound, or Silent Voice Mode, is muted) and "On".
  • Default Sound Volume: This provides the option to configure a default sound volume from 50% to 100% which is restored by Tapping and Holding any of the "Mute Buttons". In addition the sound, or Silent Voice Mode, is automatically unmuted by this operation.
  • Silent Voice Mode: When this is set to "On" the "Mute Buttons" mute the voice guidance anouncements only and leave all speed camera warnings, overspeed voice warnings and button presses still audible. When set to "Off" the "Mute Buttons" function normally and mute all sounds. The only exception to this is in Pedestrian Mode where voice guidance anouncements are turned off by default. In this case the Silent Voice Mode option is not available and the "Mute Buttons" function normally and mute all sounds. Changing the Silent Voice Mode, whether manually, or automatically when switching between car and pedestrian modes, will generally result in the sound or Silent Voice Mode being automatically unmuted.
  • Added separate distinctive mute and unmute sounds to the "Mute Buttons" to make it easier to distiguish between the two different operations.
  • Transposed the "Mute Button" and "Volume Slider" on the Portrait Mode menus to be more compatible with the position of the new Show Mute Button on map.
  • Disabled the "Recalculating Route" voice announcement in order to be more compatible with Silent Voice Mode. If the announcement is still required then re-enable it by editing sys.txt and adding recalc_voice=1 to the [interface] section.
  • Fixed: On returning from Pedestrian Mode via the "Pedestrian too fast! Change to car or ignore?" warning dialogue box the map is now correctly restored to the mode that was selected prior to entering Pedestrian Mode.
  • Fixed: When in Pedestrian Mode if the option to ignore the "Pedestrian too fast! Change to car or ignore?" warning dialogue box is chosen and then car mode is manually selected the warning dialogue is now reset. This means that the warning dialogue will now correctly reappear if Pedestrian Mode is reselected and the speed is too fast for that mode.

  • Added an "Add Via" button which automatically replaces the "Destination" button if there is an active route.
  • Cancelling the finished route from the "Route" button screen restores the "Destination" button automatically.

  • Added a "Next" button to move to the "Route Preview" screen when finished adding or removing via points.
  • Added a "More Options" button to find addresses or search for places around the cursor or along the route and then add them as via points.
  • Added an "Add Via" and a "Remove" button to add/remove a via point at the cursor location and move to the "Route Preview" screen.
  • Tapping the "Go" button on the "Route Preview" screen saves the route modifications and exits to the navigation map screen.
  • Completely backing out of the "Add Via" screens will restore the previous route and return to the "Easy" main menu. Any route modifications made will be lost.
  • Tapping and Holding the "Back" button on any of the "Add Via" screens will restore the previous route and exit to the navigation map screeen. Any route modifications made will be lost.

  • The "Load Route" button is available on the "Destination Easy Find" menu.
  • The "Save Route" buttons are available if there is an active route on the "More Options" menu on the "Route Preview" screens.
  • The demonstration routes have been removed and are available as a separate download if required.

Destination Find and Add Via Screens:

  • Added "Fit Route to Screen", "Centre Cursor" and "Centre GPS" buttons to all of the "Find" map screens where relevant.
  • Added improved searching around the cursor position on the "Destination Find" map screen. See the "Screenshots" page for more detailed information.
  • Added a "Show" button to the place information screen to show the place location on the map. This provides an alternative to selecting it as a waypoint or destination. The button is available on all place information screens accessed from the "Find on Map" or "Add Via" map screens.

Route Preview and Options Screens:

  • Tapping the route information panel on any of the route preview screens will cycle between the via points, the destination, and the complete route.
  • Tapping and Holding the route information panel on any of the route preview screens will centre the GPS position on the map.

Navigation Map Screen:

  • Added a speed and speed limit display panel to the navigation map screen with optional settings available via the new Advanced Settings menu.
  • Added a "Skip Next Via" button to the navigation map screen quick menu.

TMC Settings and Event Pages:

  • Added the TMC Setting Menus and TMC Event Pages to all resolutions. The TMC Event Pages can be accessed from the navigation map by tapping the TMC Icon when it is active.
  • Removed MSN Direct traffic references to avoid any possible conflicts.

Manage Places:

  • Added a "Manage Places" (Manage POI) menu with options to set the place visibilities and select the place icons.
  • Removed the "kmlpoi.icon" world icon file so that places loaded from kml files display the correct selected icon on the map.
  • Note: Any places loaded from kml files must have a specific icon set, replacing the world icon, otherwise they won't show on the map.

Settings Menu:

  • Added a "Dynamic Volume" checkbox to the Settings ► Sound and Warnings menu.
  • The "Speed Camera Warning" checkbox on the Settings ► Sound and Warnings menu is now always visible.

Advanced Settings Menu:

  • Added a "Dynamic Volume" settings menu page.
  • Added an "Overspeed Warning" settings menu page.
  • Added a "Speed Camera Warning" settings menu page.
  • Added a "Speed Display on Map" settings menu page.

Cosmetic Modifications:

  • Modified the cursor bitmap so that the position of the cursor on the maps now reflects the actual position and not a point just below the actual position.
  • Modified the Volume Slider Button bitmaps on the 240x320 resolution Quick Menu so that they display correctly.
  • Added button sound when tapping the navigation map to open the Quick Menu.

Amigo Interface Bug Fixes:

  • After selecting the "Show" button to display the  "Waiting for GPS information panel" the "Hide" button now actually hides the panel in all resolutions.
  • In 240x320 resolution the original non-functional Amigo voice selection menu now works correctly.
  • The original active route would be deleted after selecting a place from "Where Am I? ► Help Nearby" and then backing up rather than selecting "Go!". Backing up now correctly restores the original active route.

Credits:

  • To JetMouse for the conversion utility without which this skin would have been impossible to create.
  • To Sbertaud13 for the overall concept for the skin.
  • To all other contributors, since I lost track of what I used, if it looks like yours then it probably is and credits are due.
